Danny Johnson
Danny Johnson serves as the energy assistance manager in Georgia Power’s Customer Service organization. In this role, he is responsible for developing a strategic Energy Assistance program for Georgia Power to align the needs of customers with assistance provided by government and charitable organizations, as well as private donors. This is a new role designed to help Georgia Power meet the changing needs of its 2.5 million customers statewide.
As part of the Customer Service organization’s functionalization plan, Johnson is working with his team to build up the Energy Assistance program to serve as a critical tool in the development of a holistic collections strategy. The ultimate purpose of the program is to provide strategic outreach to communities and develop partnerships with banking, health care, non-profit and utility-based industries in Georgia to assist customers who are struggling to pay. In addition, the team will focus on efforts to educate community leaders and partners on services and programs that prevent customer debt and move customers out of the collections cycle.
Johnson joined Georgia Power in 1980 as a laborer in power generation and has served in a wide variety of management and customer service positions. In addition, he served as a health and safety advisor for the Distribution organization. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Shorter College.
